Antitu'mor properties of cisplatin and titanium(IV) complexes

چکیده

Biomedical inorganic chemistry is a relative new research field and investigates possible applications of metal containing agents which display biological activities!,2. An important part of these studies deals with compounds that display antitumor properties. The most successful anticancer drug to date containing a transition metal is cisplatin, [Pt(NH3)2Ch]3. The bioactivity of organometallic compounds and their anticipated application in medicine is at present a focal point of research. These studies became more relevant after the discovery that certain metallocene derivatives displayed antitumor activity4. The first 'International Symposium on BioorganometaIIic Chemistry' was held in Paris in July 2002.

The binding assessment with human serum albumin of novel six-coordinate Pt(IV) complexes, containing bidentate nitrogen donor/methyl ligands

The interactions between platinum complexes and human serum albumin (HSA) play crucial roles in the distribution, metabolism, and activity of platinum-based anticancer drugs. Octahedral platinum (IV) complexes represent a significant class of anticancer agents that display molecular pharmacological properties different from cisplatin. In this study, the interaction between two Pt(IV) complexes ...

Synthesis and X-ray structure analysis of cytotoxic heptacoordinate sulfonamide salan titanium(IV)-bis-chelates.

A series of novel sulfonamide substituted heteroleptic salan titanium(IV)-bis-chelates complexed to 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid were synthesized, structurally characterized and evaluated for their anticancer activity against two human carcinoma cell lines. All cytotoxic complexes showed complete inhibition of cell growth at active concentration, two complexes based on pyrrolidine and azepane ...

ct-DNA Binding and Antibacterial Activity of Octahedral Titanium (IV) Heteroleptic (Benzoylacetone and Hydroxamic Acids) Complexes

Five structurally related titanium (IV) heteroleptic complexes, [TiCl2(bzac)(L(1-4))] and [TiCl3(bzac)(HL(5))]; bzac = benzoylacetonate; L(1-5) = benzohydroximate (L(1)), salicylhydroximate (L(2)), acetohydroximate (L(3)), hydroxyurea (L(4)), and N-benzoyl-N-phenyl hydroxylamine (L(5)), were used for the assessment of their antibacterial activities against ten pathogenic bacterial strains. The ...

Highly Stable Tetra-Phenolato Titanium(IV) Agent Formulated into Nanoparticles Demonstrates Anti-Tumoral Activity and Selectivity.

Titanium(IV) complexes exhibit high potential as anti-tumor agents, particularly due to their low intrinsic toxicity and cytotoxicity toward cisplatin resistant cells. Nevertheless, Ti(IV) complexes generally undergo rapid hydrolysis that previously hampered their utilization as anticancer drugs. We recently overcame this difficulty by developing a highly stable Ti(IV) complex that is based on ...

Synthesis and Studies of Spectral and Thermal Properties of Some Mixed Ligand Complexes of Thorium(IV) and Dioxouranium(VI) With Semicarbazones as Primary Ligand and Sulfoxide as Secondary Ligand

The present work describes the studies on the coordination behaviour of 4[N-(benzalidene) amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (BAAPS) (I), 4[N-(furfural)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (FFAAPS) (II) and 4[N-(cinnamalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (CAAPS) (III) in presence of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or diphenyl sulfoxide (DPSO) towards Th4+ and UO22+ salts. All the complexes were isolate...
